Elementary School Strings Teacher
Saint David’s School seeks a Part-Time Upper School Strings teacher, Grade 4 - Grade 8, for the 2026-2027 school year. Founded in the Catholic tradition, the school welcomes applicants of all faith traditions (or none). Through our Teaching Boys Initiative™, all educators receive support and professional development through mentorship, research opportunities, and summer study grants. At Saint David’s, every faculty and staff member are part of something larger: the formation of boys into good men.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Teach beginning strings classes, Grades 4 and 5 and lead eight performances each school year
• Direct the Upper School Philharmonic Ensemble (Grades 4 - 8), two rehearsals per week and four performances each school year
Qualifications and Preferences:
• Five-years’ experience teaching string classes and experience conducting a student orchestra
• High level instrumental skills
• Experience in choosing appropriate repertoire
• Experience in collaboration with other schools or artistic organizations is a plus
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to boys’ education and character education
• Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor
Hourly rate of approximately $80 per hour for a minimum of seven hours
