Elementary School Spanish Teacher

Saint David’s School seeks a full-time Spanish teacher for September 1, 2026. Saint David’s is an independent elementary school for boys, located in Manhattan. Founded in the Catholic tradition, the school welcomes faculty and staff of all faiths and backgrounds. Through our Teaching Boys Initiative™, all educators receive support and professional development through mentorship, research opportunities, and summer study grants. At Saint David’s, every faculty and staff member are part of something larger: the formation of boys into good men.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Experience teaching Spanish using a full immersion approach (95% target language)

• Demonstrate the ability to plan lessons using authentic literature with integrated performance assessments, games, songs and projects

• Demonstrate a knowledge of Total Physical Response (TPR) techniques and engage multiple modalities so that students can retain information

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and the curriculum chair to refine the existing FLES program

• Demonstrate a willingness to integrate Spanish language instruction with other disciplines

Qualifications and Preferences:

• 3-5 years’ teaching experience with Grades 2 – 8

• Excellent speaking and writing skills

• BA in Elementary education or related field; MA in Spanish, Foreign Language instruction or a related field not required but preferred

• Native fluency in Spanish language

• Demonstrable commitment to professional development

• Commitment to boys’ education and character education

• Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor

Salary range dependent on experience: $70,000 - $121,900
