In art, our second graders are using recycled/reusable materials to create global masks inspired by various world cultures.
In preparation for this project, the boys visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art's recently reopened Oceania wing, which hosts a beautiful collection of indigenous masks. Boys looked at a collection from Papua, New Guinea, and from the Asmat people and Baining tribes.
Through hands-on work in the visual arts our boys are encouraged to observe carefully, think independently, and discover where their passions lie.
