"Look, Imagine, Create" at The Guggenheim

The hottest ticket in town this week was to "Look, Imagine, Create" -- our second grade event held at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. During this culmination of their fall study of art, which is done in partnership with the museum, the boys led gallery tours and exhibited their original collages, paintings, drawings, and construction, on display in the museum's rotunda.

2025 marks the ninth year of our collaboration with The Guggenheim for second graders' fall study of art. From September through December, boys spent 90-minute weekly art sessions at the museum under the guidance of a museum educator and their art teacher. They studied the architecture of this landmark building along with masterpieces on view in its spiraling ramps and within the Thannhauser Collection. In the museum's studio, the boys engaged in hands-on art activities prompted by questions related to concepts they explored during their museum inquiry.

The unit emphasizes close looking and critical thinking about art.
