With its exploration of revenge vs. justice, light vs. darkness, free will vs. fate, and divine vs. human law, the Oresteia remains relevant today, despite the fact that the trilogy by Aeschylus dates to 458 bce. Seventh graders perform excerpts from the trilogy in conjunction with their study, in history, of ancient Greece.
An example of the intersection between our arts and academics pillars, this performance calls upon the boys to grapple with philosophical ideas and ideals, while having the opportunity to dig into the emotions of complex characters, and to discover and hone their talents as actors.
