Educational Partners


Saint David's partners with a number of cultural, historical, and educational institutions in order to expand and enhance boys' learning in a variety of disciplines. Educators from these institutions work with our teachers to engage boys in active inquiry-based learning experiences, both in and outside the classroom.

AMNH-Hayden Planetarium

In a one-of-a-kind partnership, sixth graders learn to "fly through" the Digital Universe as a means of studying the cosmos during a series of extended field study visits to the American Museum of Natural History-Hayden Planetarium. They explore a topic of their choice and translate their research findings into arresting multimedia presentations that they conduct from the control room of the Planetarium.

Omega boys' interdisciplinary study of dinosaurs includes a visit to the Dinosaur exhibit at the museum where they actively partake in interactive activities such as archeological digs.
Central Park Conservancy

As a social service project, Saint David's fifth graders work with the CPC to help maintain and beautify Central Park.

The digital citizenship strand of our Sophrosyne and Research programs are informed by the Common Sense Digital Citizenship Curriculum, which is designed to empower students to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in our digital world.
DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor

Boys in the Fifth and Eighth Grades engage with scientists from the DNALC for in-depth study of DNA in a series of hands-on learning experiences. Students' study of DNA takes place at school and at Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center facilities.
Ellis Island

The third graders' study of immigration and its impact on their city, state, and nation, includes a visit to Ellis Island, where more than 12 million immigrants entered the United States between 1892-1954. Back at school, the learning from this visit is incorporated in the boys' Mock Ellis Island Activity, in which they role play immigrants' experiences at Ellis Island.

PEEC’s education programs are designed to provide a holistic presentation of the natural world.
The Frick Collection

In Sixth Grade art, boys visit the Frick Collection to view, sketch, and analyze master portraits, deepening the boys' experience and understanding of the genre.
Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History

Boys in the Fifth and Sixth Grades have access to the Gilder Collection, a unique archive of primary source documents, which they explore during their study of the Revolutionary Era and Civil War.
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

Second, seventh, and eighth graders spend several sessions of art during the year at the Guggenheim, drawing, and learning about the museum's architecture and its collection under the guidance of a museum educator. The Second and Seventh Grade courses culminate with an exhibit of the boys' work at the museum, viewed by the boys' families and members of the community.
Manhattan Childrens Center

During the fall and winter second graders make 12 visits to Manhattan Childrens Center, a school on the Upper West Side that provides education and treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder and related disorders. Through working and playing with children who experience the world differently than they do, boys develop a deeper sense of empathy and an understanding that while people may differ in some ways, at the core, we are all the same.

Just a few blocks to the school's south, The Met provides rich opportunities for out-of-class learning in art and humanities classes.
El Museo del Barrio

In celebration of Dia de los Muertos, fifth graders visit El Museo del Barrio in Spanish Harlem.
Museum of the City of New York

Second graders visit the museum during their year-long exploration of New York City and the many ways it has changed throughout the years.
Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

Second graders visit MoMA during their interdisciplinary study of Picasso in art and Spanish classes. Eighth graders visit MoMA during their study of modern art, where the works often inspire their culminating humanities art presentation project.
National Dance Institute (NDI)

Saint David's third graders participate in a ten-week program with the National Dance Institute, held in our theatre. The sessions are led by a team of three teaching artists--two teacher/choreographers and a musician who use NDI's unique teaching methods to instill in students a love of the arts.
New-York Historical Society

Through our partnership with the New-York Historical Society First Graders study historical maps of New York City and develop cartography techniques. Second and Third Graders explore the history of early New York through hands-on examination of artifacts provided by N-YHS educators.
Fifth Graders learn about the American Revolution and develop Revolutionary War Broadsheets.

Prepare Inc.

The Sixth and Eighth Grade health programs includes 10 sessions with health educators from Prepare, Inc., a self-advocacy group that teaches young people how to make safe and healthy choices in situations involving peer pressure and other dangers.
Tenement Museum

Third graders experience personally what life was like for immigrants at the turn of the 20th century, by visiting apartments that re-create immigrant life on the Lower East Side.
