Fifth graders are in the midst of an in-depth study of DNA, conducted through the school's partnership with the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center. They have extracted DNA from wheat germ and tested the effects of different variables on their experiments. The unit, co-taught by a DNALC educator and Saint David's science teachers, includes six labs and a visit to the DNALC's Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where the boys meet with DNA scientists. For more on this signature STEAM unit, see the Headmaster's Blog
