The second graders kicked off their year with a collaborative Cardboard Engineering Challenge! They worked in teams of 3 or 4 to design and build a corrugated cardboard structure that each boy on their team could crawl into and fit inside. The main objectives of this crowd-pleasing first project are to strengthen collaboration skills and practice problem solving and iteration through building. The boys set goals, collaborated as a team, practiced working through the Engineering Design Cycle, and demonstrated their understanding of building techniques as they designed, built, and revised their imaginative cardboard structures.
