The final judging for Saint David's NBS Lectures took place on Friday, December 9th. For the competition, six eighth grade boys presented their analysis of a work of art before an audience of their peers from the Nightingale-Bamford School. These boys were the finalists of the preliminary competition in which all eighth graders participated as part of their humanities course. During the Lectures, boys are judged on the content and depth of their analysis, which includes discussion of elements such as historical context, color, geometric simplification, iconography, and purpose; their presentation skills; and the quality and organization of their slides. Judges include faculty, administrators from Saint David's and Nightingale-Bamford, former trustees, and art historians/experts. This year's winner presented his analysis on "Absinthe" by Edgar Degas.
