Fifth graders recently started a planting project through Tomatosphere. In this unit the boys perform a controlled experiment to determine whether exposure to outer space affects seed germination. The boys planted tomato seeds, half of which have been sent up to the International Space Station, to learn about plants in space, right here on Earth. Tomatosphere engages students in real scientific processes that teach and reinforce inquiry skills.
