Sixth Grade Geologists

Sixth graders worked as geologists to classify rocks and minerals based on their properties. Using hands-on tests, they determined each sample's luster, breakage pattern, streak color, hardness, and chemical composition. The class then discussed the reasons why scientists use this information to classify samples and determine an unknown specimen's identity.
