A look at a few of the art classes currently in session at Saint David's demonstrates rigorous pursuit in art. Boys in the fourth grade learn color theory as they create vibrant Egyptian Gods in pottery and painting form, in conjunction with their civilization class study of ancient Egypt. At the same time, fifth graders create colorful cityscapes, based on observational drawing, and boys in the Eighth Grade work on finishing drawings that incorporate what they are learning about surrealism, as well as techniques such as contour, gesture and value drawing.
