On Tuesday, October 16, the Lionel Hampton Band returned to Saint David's and performed for both sections of sixth grade. They focused on three important jazz genres: swing, bebop, and cool or modern jazz. Band members Christian Fabian-Bass (and leader of the group), Cleave Guyten-Alto Saxophone, Ray Gannon-Piano, and Bernard Purdie-Drums, all performed with Lionel Hampton in the 80's and are currently performing around the world with various big bands and combos. This was their 18th year of performances at Saint David's and the boys loved hearing live music in an intimate setting.
