Graciela Bonetto, professor of architecture in Cordoba, Argentina, and grandmother of a sixth grader, recently visited Dr. Gilbert’s Sixth Grade Spanish class. The boys interviewed her about her favorite places in the world. Then, working in pairs, they undertook a mock architectural challenge—to create their own model designs for a building project—a museum, hotel/restaurant or shopping center, after being provided with specific information about the location of the building’s site. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their session with Dr. Bonetto and the opportunity to put on their “architect” hats.
