Admissions: Application Process

Most students enroll at Saint David’s in the pre-primary grades.  Boys must turn four by September 1 of their Pre-Kindergarten year or five by September 1 of their Kindergarten year.  Qualified applicants are considered at all grade levels when places are available.  

The admissions process begins in the fall of the year prior to enrollment.  The process begins with the submission of an online inquiry, which registers the applicant family to receive our brochure, instructions for accessing the online application, as well as additional application procedures.

Completed applications for the 2012-2013 year should be submitted to the Office of Admissions in the fall as soon as possible and no later than December 1, 2011 along with the $60 application fee.  Due to scheduling constraints, we may need to discontinue accepting applications prior to December 1.  Please arrange ERB testing as soon as possible and submit a signed Transcript Request form to your son’s current school.  Upon receipt of the completed application, we will contact you to arrange the following appointments:

Parent Tour & Interview:   You will have a private tour of Saint David’s led by a current parent and an interview with one of the admissions officers.  Please plan to be at Saint David’s for approximately one hour and a half for the parent tour and interview.  

Applicant Visit:  Boys applying to Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten will visit in small groups and will engage in a variety of activities facilitated by two teachers for approximately 45 minutes.  Boys applying to Grades One through Four will interview one-on-one with a teacher for approximately one hour.  Boys applying to Grades Five through Seven will spend a full day at Saint David’s and will be interviewed one-on-one by a teacher for approximately one hour during the course of the day.

Headmaster’s Remarks:  Parents will be invited to attend an evening event hosted by the Headmaster.  The one hour formal presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.  

Athletic Center Tour (Optional):  Parents will have the opportunity to attend a group tour of the Athletic Center hosted by the Athletics Director in January.  The facility is located at 215 East 94th Street (between Second and Third Avenues).  It is not necessary to r.s.v.p. for this tour.
