Admissions Process
Most students enroll in the pre-primary grades. Boys must turn four by September of their Four/Five year or five by September of their Kindergarten year. Other qualified applicants are considered at all grade levels when places are available.
The Admissions process begins in the fall.
- The first step is to request an application. This can be done by filling out the online inquiry. We will then mail you a brochure with an application. Note: Brochures are mailed in early September. Letters of recommendation are welcome but not required.
- Parents should complete and return the application with a nonrefundable fee of $60 by December 1st. Due to time constraints, Saint David’s may need to discontinue accepting applications prior to December 1st. After we receive the application, the Admissions Secretary will call you to schedule your three appointments.
- The first appointment will last approximately one hour. You will have a 30 minute tour of the school with a parent tour guide, and a parent interview with one of the Admissions Officers.
- The second appointment is an interview for your son. Boys applying for the Four/Fives and Kindergarten programs will have a 45 minute interview with a small group of boys. Boys applying for first, second, third and fourth grades will have a 45 minute one-on-one interview with a teacher. Boys applying for fifth through seventh grades will spend the day at Saint David’s and be interviewed one-on-one during the course of that day.
- The third appointment is an evening with the headmaster. Dr. O’Halloran will speak to a group of parents for 30 minutes and will then answer questions.
-
Every year the Admissions Department invites you to take a tour of the Sports Center. It is located at the Ninety-fourth Street campus, 215 East 94th Street. You will receive those dates when you come for your parent tour.
-
All applicants for Kindergarten through Grade Seven need to be tested by the Educational Record Bureau .
